Donna had always been envious of her cousin Gwen’s privileged life. While Gwen’s mother had married a wealthy lawyer, Donna’s mother had married a poor man. As a result, Gwen had always had the finer things in life, from fancy clothes to expensive vacations. Donna, on the other hand, had to rely on Gwen’s generosity to experience even a glimpse of luxury.
But Donna’s envy soon turned to deceit. When Gwen introduced her to Brian, the son of her father’s best friend, Donna was immediately smitten. Despite knowing that Gwen had been in love with Brian for years, Donna set her sights on stealing him away. And she succeeded, at least for a while.
Brian and Donna’s whirlwind romance ended with a proposal, and Gwen was devastated. She had thought that Brian cared for her, but it seemed that he had fallen for Donna’s charms instead. Gwen tried to be gracious, even offering to buy Donna a wedding dress. But Donna just rubbed salt in the wound by asking Gwen to be her bridesmaid.
The wedding day arrived, and Donna was determined to make a grand entrance. But as she walked down the aisle, she was met with a shock. Brian was standing at the altar, but he wasn’t waiting for her. Instead, he was marrying Gwen.
Donna’s screams of rage were drowned out by the cheers of the wedding guests. She had played a dirty game, and she had lost. Not only had she lost Brian, but she had also lost her cousin’s friendship and the luxury lifestyle she had grown accustomed to.
As Donna stormed out of the church, she realized that she had been living in a fantasy world. She had thought that she could manipulate people and situations to get what she wanted, but in the end, her deceit had caught up with her. She was left with nothing but the bitter taste of defeat.
