Tragedy at Niagara Falls: A Family’s Untimely End

A heartbreaking incident occurred at Niagara Falls, claiming the lives of Chianti Means, 33, and her two young children, Roman Rossman, 9, and Mecca Means, 5 months old.

On October 29, 2024, the New York State Police announced an investigation into their deaths. Authorities responded to a report near Goat Island, involving the family falling over Niagara Falls from Luna Island.

Investigations revealed Chianti allegedly threw her children over the safety rail before jumping after them. The State Police deemed the incident intentional.

Search and rescue efforts were conducted by multiple agencies, but unfortunately, the trio was not recovered.

Chianti’s cousin, Bierra Hamilton, disclosed that the mother struggled with postpartum depression. She emphasized that Chianti’s death wasn’t due to a breakup or relationship issues.

Bierra stressed the importance of addressing postpartum depression, saying, “It’s very real and needs a cure.” She fondly remembered Chianti as having a “beautiful soul” and being “full of life and wisdom.”

Chianti’s social media posts hinted at her struggles with mental health. A month before her passing, she expressed longing for love and connection.

Roman’s father, John Wayne Rossman, set up a GoFundMe page to cover burial costs and create a memorial on Luna Island. The goal is $20,000.

Funds will also support a memorial service on January 30, 2025, marking Roman’s tenth birthday. John expressed gratitude for prayers and kind words during this difficult time.
