According to Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the incident was a “premeditated, preplanned targeted attack.” Surveillance footage revealed that the shooter waited for several minutes before striking, and then pursued Thompson as he fell, continuing to fire.
The police investigation is ongoing, with authorities scouring the area for evidence and reviewing security footage. A cell phone, shell casings, and live rounds were found near the scene, and investigators believe the shooter used a gun with a silencer.
