A Family’s Plea for Help as They Face Eviction

A young family of five from Rotherham is on the brink of homelessness after being ordered to vacate their home. Parents Amy Winter and Joshua Thain, along with their three children, are struggling to make ends meet and have fallen behind on their rent payments.

Despite their best efforts, the family has been unable to catch up on their rent, and a judge has ordered them to leave their home on Brunswick Street, Thurnscoe. The family is desperate for help and is appealing to Barnsley Council to intervene.

Amy, who is 26 and five months pregnant, and Joshua, 27, are both receiving Universal Credit and are doing their best to provide for their children. However, the financial strain is taking a toll on the family. They are worried about their future and are desperate for a solution.

The family’s situation is further complicated by the fact that the property is owned by Sanctuary Housing, and the tenancy agreement was in the name of Joshua’s late mother, Victoria Robertshaw. Victoria passed away in August at the age of 45 after testing positive for Covid-19.

Amy and Joshua are frustrated with the lack of support they have received from Barnsley Council. They feel that the council has not done enough to help them, and they are now facing the very real possibility of homelessness.

As the family struggles to come to terms with their situation, they are appealing to the public for support. They hope that by sharing their story, they can raise awareness about the challenges faced by families who are struggling to make ends meet.
