Michelle Obama Under Fire for Inauguration No-Show

The internet is buzzing with opinions on former First Lady Michelle Obama’s decision not to attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. While no official explanation has been given, many are reading between the lines and weighing in.

Canadian investor Kevin O’Leary, a recent acquaintance of Trump’s, expressed his disappointment on CNN, calling Obama’s absence an insult and a break from tradition. Musical artist Kid Rock, a vocal Trump supporter, also chimed in, suggesting that Obama seems “a little angry.” Rock recalled performing at the Youth Inaugural Ball during Barack Obama’s first inauguration in 2009, which he did out of respect for the president.

However, others argue that there’s a double standard at play. Canadian TV host Melissa Grelo questioned why Obama is being held to a standard that isn’t applied to former presidents. She pointed out that Donald Trump didn’t attend Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2020, yet Obama is facing criticism for her decision.

Grelo’s co-host also noted that the expectation for First Ladies to attend events is unfair, especially since there’s no precedent for a First Husband. Until the playing field is equalized, they argue that Obama should be free to make her own choices.

A source close to Obama revealed that she’s not one to pretend for protocol’s sake, which may explain her decision. Ultimately, the reason behind Obama’s absence remains unclear, leaving the public to speculate and debate.
