TV presenter Davina McCall has revealed she is undergoing brain surgery after being diagnosed with a rare and benign brain tumor. On November 15, McCall shared an emotional request for prayers as she prepared for a significant procedure to remove the tumor. Her partner, Michael Douglas, shared the news with her fans on Instagram, explaining that Davina would need time to recover from the operation. She referred to her condition as “very unusual,” noting that it affects just three in a million people.
The diagnosis came as a shock to McCall following a routine health scan that she initially believed would come back clear. Doctors discovered a colloid cyst, a benign tumor that required immediate attention due to its size and potential risks. Though initially hesitant to address the issue, she sought the advice of several neurosurgeons and ultimately decided that surgery was necessary. At 57, McCall expressed the urgency of the situation, explaining that the 14-millimeter tumor was taking up too much space in her brain and could lead to severe complications if left untreated.
Before heading into surgery, McCall shared a pre-recorded video message in which she explained the procedure. Surgeons would access her brain through the top and sides of her skull to remove the cyst completely. Despite the seriousness of the operation, McCall maintained her sense of humor, describing the process as, “Get it. Remove it. Empty it. Done.” She concluded her message with a heartfelt request for prayers and support, adding, “I feel really good about this.”
Douglas lightened the mood by joking that he would oversee the surgery to ensure everything went smoothly. Meanwhile, McCall reassured her fans that she was in good health and had full confidence in her medical team. “We’ve been through so much already,” she said, remaining optimistic about her recovery.
McCall also informed her followers that she would be offline for a while, spending around nine days in the hospital before returning home. Encouraging everyone not to worry, she said, “I’m handing over responsibility to my surgeon. He knows exactly what he’s doing, and I trust him entirely.” With a smile, she ended her message by saying, “See you on the other side.”
