In a small café on the outskirts of town, Alina worked as a waitress, dreaming of a better life. Since her mother’s death, she had struggled to make ends meet, her hopes of attending university slipping further away. But one day, a mysterious man walked into the café and changed everything.

One evening, he left a tip so large it equaled Alina’s monthly earnings. Overwhelmed, she confronted him in the parking lot. “Why are you doing this?” she asked. The man, Pavel Andreevich, asked her to meet him the next day to explain.

Years later, as they sat in his office, Pavel offered Alina the position of his deputy. “You’ve grown so much,” he said proudly. Alina smiled, reflecting on how far she had come. “I’m no longer that little girl counting pennies,” she said. “But I still remember the pain.”
