The internet quickly pieced together the reason: Eagles fans. Swift, who has roots in the Philadelphia area, was openly supporting the Chiefs—the Eagles’ opponents. For die-hard fans, that was enough to earn some jeers. “She’s repping the other team. It’s just sports banter,” one person tweeted. Others thought the reaction was over the top, pointing out that Swift was just there as a spectator, not a player.
