Nancy Pelosi Hospitalized After Fall During Official Trip

Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been hospitalized after sustaining an injury from a fall during an official trip to Luxembourg. According to a spokesperson for the House of Representatives, Pelosi, 84, is currently receiving treatment from medical professionals.

Pelosi was part of a congressional delegation visiting Europe to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, a significant event during World War II. Her spokesperson, Ian Krager, stated that she is unable to attend the remaining events scheduled during her trip due to her injury.

Although the exact nature of her injury was not disclosed, sources familiar with the situation reported that Pelosi tripped and fell while attending an event with other members of Congress. One source indicated that she suffered a hip injury.

Pelosi’s colleagues have expressed their well-wishes for her speedy recovery. Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas, posted on social media that he was “praying for a speedy recovery” for Pelosi. McCaul also shared a group photograph taken at the United States Embassy in Luxembourg, where Pelosi and other lawmakers were seen together.

This incident marks another challenging moment for Pelosi, who has faced difficult times in recent years. Her husband, Paul, was attacked with a hammer at their home in San Francisco two years ago. The perpetrator was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.

Despite stepping down from her leadership position two years ago, Pelosi remains active in Congress, representing her San Francisco district. She has continued to work with Democrats in private and public settings, attending formal events and playing a role in behind-the-scenes efforts.

Recently, Pelosi was seen on the Senate floor, witnessing the swearing-in of her former Democratic colleagues, Adam Schiff and Andy Kim. She also attended the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington over the weekend.

In a separate incident, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, 82, suffered a sprained wrist and cut to his cheek after tripping and falling in the Senate earlier this week. McConnell’s office reported that he did not participate in Senate votes due to stiffness in his leg following the fall.
