A Quick Decision Leads to an Embarrassing Mistake

Fresh out of the shower, a woman heard the doorbell ring. Her husband was busy, so she wrapped herself in a towel and answered the door. It was Bob, their neighbor, standing there with an unexpected proposal.

“I’ll pay you $800 to drop that towel,” he said.

The woman paused. That was easy money. Without another thought, she let the towel fall, took the cash, and shut the door.

When she returned to her husband, he asked, “Who was at the door?”

“Just Bob,” she said.

“Perfect,” her husband replied. “Did he give you the $800 he owes me?”

Her face flushed with embarrassment. The money wasn’t a random bet—it was repayment for a loan. She had just unknowingly taken cash meant for her husband, all because she hadn’t asked why Bob was offering it.

The takeaway? Never assume—always clarify before making a choice!
